Ernie Castro has spent the last 11 years of his career originating reverse mortgage loans in the DC Metro area. His expertise, understanding, and ability to work through complex problems has helped him close nearly 400 loans. For the past 30 years, Ernie and his wife Marjorie have lived in Oakton, Virginia. They have three adult children living and working in the area.

Jennifer Hammer is the Market Manager for the Mid-Atlantic region with Legacy Navigators, a full-service management company working with estates in transition due to events such as downsizing, moving to assisted living or the death of a loved one. Jennifer previously worked as a commercial account manager for ServiceMaster, where she fostered relationships with D.C.-area hospitals, multi-family residential buildings, high-rise offices, and more. As a 23-year Navy wife and former Ombudsman, Jennifer excels at helping families navigate difficult transitions like deployment, transference, or the death of a sailor. She came to Legacy Navigator seeking more personal relationships with clients and the opportunity to once again guide people through distress. Jennifer graduated from Texas A&M with a bachelor’s in English and from Western Washington University with her K-8 teaching certification. She and her family live in Alexandria, VA.
TOM SHIPE, Senior real estate specialist (SRES)
Tom Shipe came to real estate from a career in the corporate world and service in the Air Force. He has built a top producing real estate business here in Northern Virginia over the last 15 years, which has included management roles at Long & Foster as the need arose. Tom recently returned to the classroom to gain his senior real estate specialist (SRES) certificate and now spends much of his time serving senior’s in downsizing, relocation and Aging In Place.
Matrona Busch, Certified Senior Advisor
Growing up near Pittsburgh, Certified Senior Advisor Matrona Busch learned the value of helpful neighbors and friends at an early age. She went on to graduate from Penn State University, relocated to the Fairfax area, and enjoyed a successful career in telecommunications for almost 30 years. As she began the search for her second career, she explored opportunities where she could make a difference in people’s lives and truly help others. That was exactly how she landed on senior advising services.
Mike McCarthy, MACCO Remodeling and Restoration
As a younger man, owner Mike McCarthy watched his father, a New York fireman, suffer through diminished physical capabilities, as well as mobility issues. For several years, Mike experienced physical challenges caused by deteriorating knees. During recovery from bilateral knee replacement surgery, Mike encountered many individuals in physical therapy learning how to make life style adjustments due to injuries that restricted their mobility. These experiences motivated Mike to add a focus to the business to enable people to stay safely in their homes for as long as they desire.
Ellen Hughes, owner, Assisting hands home care
Ellen has lived and worked in Northern Virginia for over 40 years. She started Assisting Hands Home Care in Reston, VA out of a desire to offer personalized in home care services to support the elderly, disabled, post surgical and other clients needing assistance with their activities of daily living. Assisting Hands supports an individuals choice and preference to be in their own home in order to maintain their dignity and independence. All of her caregivers are employees of the company and are licensed, bonded, insured and background checked. She services the Northern Virginia area with specific focus on Fairfax County.
